FRIENDSHIPPED, 2020

Part social art, part performance, FRIENDSHIPPED explores themes of connection during COVID. Gibson invited friends to participate in mail art by sending them letters asking friends to send a piece of fabric that represents friendship along with a story about the fabric. She read the stories aloud during an Instagram Live performance as she crafted the sculpture with the fabric her friends sent, beeswax, and sewing string.

MY FUNNY FACE, 2019

Gibson performed this work during the exhibition Traces in San Luis Obispo's Art After Dark event. The three-hour performance, a portrait of herself (she aged out of foster care at age 18) and the foster youth community, focuses on the injustices foster kids face in the United States today. Visitors were invited to respond to her by writing on the wall or adding their story to the wall. Talking was not allowed during the performance.
